Description: Detlef Jericke comments on all the locations and sites mentioned in The Book of Genesis, in order of appearance. He discusses various localization options for each entry, providing a more detailed explanation of his suggestions where possible. In addition, he provides a literary-topographic evaluation, discussing the extent to which the use of the toponyms shapes the meaning of the narratives of Genesis, thereby performing what could be called a "topographical staging" of the texts. Jericke also addresses questions regarding the historical background of individual parts of the narrative. Five maps illustrate the results of the topographic investigation.
